I used a Maggiolina Grand Tour for nine years. A rooftop tent perfectly fit my needs. I downsized from an AEV JK350 to a Chevy Colorado ZR2 and immediately began reading everything I could about today’s RTT’s. I knew I needed something smaller to fit on a bed rack, but didn’t want to compromise on space or comfort. I knew I wanted a hardshell for a variety of reasons.
After reading everything and watching tons of review videos,, I decided to purchase the iKamper Skycamp 3.0 mini. Installation seemed too straightforward and simple to be true….but it was real. I unboxed the tent, and with help lifting it onto the rack I had it secure and ready in minutes. Bravo on the mounting hardware design!!!
Setting up and taking down the tent is unbelievably simple, and fast. Material quality is outstanding, and I sleep quite comfortably. Not to mention it looks fantastic.
I highly recommend this tent if you love camping.
After extensive research, I chose the iKamper Skycamp Mini 3.0 in Rocky Black for the 2025 Toyota RAV4 PHEV and its been awesome for our camping adventures.
The compact design of the Skycamp Mini complements the RAV4 PHEV perfectly, Its aerodynamic hardshell doesn't compromise fuel efficiency, and the 125lb weight is well within the RAV4's roof load capacity.
Setting up camp is a breeze . In under a minute, the tent unfolds, and the telescoping ladder is ready for use. This efficiency is invaluable, especially after long drives.
The 9-zone, 2.5" thick insulated mattress offers exceptional comfort. The quited insulation and breathable 300gsm poly-cotton canvas ensure a warm and condensation-free environment, even in colder climates.
The Skyview wind is a standout feature. It allows for natural light during the day and offers a mesmerizing view of the stars at night, enhancing the camping experience.

Horrible chemical smell coming from the map in the tent. I have used it over 20 times, aired it out many days over 1-1/2 years, but finally giving up and will get rid of it. Sad, because otherwise I love it! Just can't stand the smell, especially in cold weather when you can't have much ventilation.
I've camped in my iKamper Skycamp 3.0 Mini several times now. All my trips so far have been in mild weather so I cannot attest to extreme weather conditions but this tent is very comfortable in moderate climates straight out of the box. My wife insisted we add extra padding on top of the foam mat but she is spoiled and I didn't think it was necessary. Love my rtt and cannot wait to explore more with my setup.
Just received my Skycamp 3.0 Mini a couple weeks ago.
Pros: Great build quality all around
Light weight
Easy one person set up and tear down
Looks amazing inside and out
The mounting system is amazing
Cons: Doesn’t come with the simple extras like a shoe bag or interior lighting.
The mattress that comes with it is just shy of horrible
Doesn’t have a pass through heater hose port
All in all the tent fits my needs. My biggest need was cutting down the weight on top of my 4 door Jeep. My biggest gripe is what you don’t get for that price point. Although heavy and it took a minimum of two people to set up and tear down , my last tent was $1200 cheaper and came with lighting inside and out, two inner hanging storage bags, two outside hanging shoe bags, and a crappier stock mattress. I just hate how a company tries to squeeze more money out of you for shoe bags and an air mattress when you’ve already spent over $4000. Unless iKamper changes things up, I’ll probably buy their closest competitor’s tent when this one wears out.
